Historic downtown Liberty is just a few minutes from the Burns Farm. The town was Incorporated in 1829, making Liberty the second oldest incorporated city west of the Mississippi. Built around the county courthouse, the Liberty square features historical attractions, unique shops, as well eating and drinking options. Among the prominent historical attractions are the Jesse James Bank Museum, site of the nations first successful daylight bank robbery during peacetime, allegedly committed by the notorious James Brothers.
